I will write down my setup if you need some extra information: I prefer to spend a bit more rather than having regret later with some hacky solutions.ĭespite the two problems above I want to clarify I tried many kvm before and this is the best product I have put my hands on to date. I have read people are using some DP repeater adaptor to avoid the mac to identify the monitor as disconnected but before I spend a fortune in buying a repeater for each of the four cables I would like to double check what is your opinion in this regards and whether you have any advise you can give me to have a perfectly working and RELIABLE setup.
KVM SWITCH FOR MAC SOFTWARE
I am really keen to find a solution for this issue either at software or hardware level. I was aware this is an issue you tried to fix when building the unit, however, I was not expecting to be that bad. It is frustrating that I need to rearrange them every time I swap. The second problem is around the fact every single time I switch between macs my workspace rearrange itself left and right. What am I supposed to do to bring it back the kvm to dual monitor mode? To be precise I am not using two monitors but the PBP mode on the Samsung C49RG90SSU. I disconnected the power few times and swapped the cables with no good result. Unfortunately, the next day this happened again and I have not managed to bring it back yet. This happened to me already and I managed to resurrect it by disconnecting the unit from the power for half day and it came back as expected after that. When I get to this state I am completely lost and not sure what to do.

The first problem occurs when I disconnect the MacBook from the KVM and even if I plug it back after few minutes the KVM switch its mode from dual monitor to single monitor. Image quality and refresh rate are impressive but I am having some issues using with two macs. 1 IOGEAR 2-Port USB HDMI Cabled KVM - 1920x120060Hz - Remote Button Switch - Plug-n-Play - Molded Cables Design for Easy Setup - Xbox / PS4/5 - Windows, Mac and Linux - GCS32HU View on Amazon SCORE 10.0 AI Score AI Score is a ranking system developed by our team of experts. I know way back when this was simple enough as having a "KVM" switch that allowed you use a single Keyboard, Mouse and Display with two different computers and switch between them at the touch of a button, but I figure this has been replaced with a better method by now.Ĭan anyone recommend one? I'm weighing my options here.I finally received the new DP 1.4 dual monitor KVM after few months of waiting.įirst impression is really positive.
KVM SWITCH FOR MAC PC
I figured this would be a great way to have a taste of both worlds.a Windows-based (maybe SteamOS someday?) PC strictly for Gaming and a Mac for literally everything else I need a computer to do.īut now I'm seriously considering getting a Mac Mini and sharing a display between it and the Gaming PC. I have a little "Gaming" PC I built back in late 2020 that I was intending to use primarily through remote means such as Parsec, Steam Link, and Microsoft's own remote desktop software. So sometime this year I'll be replacing my Macbook Pro with something newer, and while I figured a iMac was a shoe-in (the M1 models are gorgeous and I miss my AIO Macs) to replace it, I'm seriously considering going with a Mac Mini and separate display instead. Connect your monitor to two source systems using either USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 or the USB upstream cable and.
